The National Museum

The National Museum of Colombia is the oldest museum of museums in the country and Latin America, the museum's collection is divided in four areas: art, history, archeology and ethnography.



In the museum you can find works of art in Colombia, Latin America and Europe, including paintings, prints and sculptures from the colonial period until today.


It was founded on July 4th in1824 and was built by the architect Thomas Reed, throughout its history the National Museum of Colombia has been moved in several locations.

The Gold museum  

The Gold museum belongs to the Banco de la Republica of Colombia, it is located in the historical center of Bogota and it has the collection of the world's largest pre-Hispanic gold work. It was inaugurated in 1968 and was designed by architect German Samper.



When the Gold Museum was finished it became into an exciting new cultural center dedicated to issues of anthropology, archeology, heritage and identity.



Gold Museum preserves and investigates one of the most important collections of pre Hispanic metallurgy in the world. When finish the project for expansion and renovation of the museum of gold, citizens and tourists have an exciting new cultural center dedicated to issues of anthropology, archeology, heritage and identity.
